RAF Valley Drone Notification and FRZ Authorisation Tool
This platform is operated by Chickenzown Ltd in support of RAF Valley airspace safety coordination and Flight Restriction Zone (FRZ) management activities.
Chickenzown Ltd processes submitted information on behalf of RAF Valley and authorised operational stakeholders for aviation safety and operational coordination purposes.

2. What Information We Collect
When you submit a drone notification or FRZ authorisation request, we may collect:
- Name
- Email address
- Telephone number
- Operator ID
- Drone type
- Drone serial number
- Flight date and time
- Maximum requested height
- Flight location, boundary, KML upload, map drawing, or what3words-derived position
- Flight category and related declarations
- Notes or other information you provide
- Permit status, approval/rejection/amendment history, conditions, acknowledgements, and permit numbers where applicable
- Technical system logs and audit records associated with submitted requests
3. Why We Collect This Information
We use this information to:
- Review drone activity notified to RAF Valley
- Assess FRZ authorisation requests
- Coordinate airspace safety activity
- Notify Station Operations, ATC, and other relevant aviation safety stakeholders where required
- Issue, manage, amend, or reject permits
- Contact you regarding your request
- Maintain operational audit records and safety logs
- Support airspace safety monitoring systems by helping distinguish notified or authorised drone activity from unidentified drone activity
- Support incident review, operational analysis, and aviation safety investigations where required
4. Lawful Basis
Personal data is processed for aviation safety, operational coordination, and airspace management purposes.
Processing is considered necessary for:
- Legitimate interests relating to aviation and airspace safety; and/or
- The performance of tasks carried out in the public interest relating to operational airspace management and flight safety.
Information may also be processed where necessary to comply with applicable aviation, legal, regulatory, or safety obligations.
5. Who We Share Information With
Your information may be shared with relevant operational personnel and aviation safety stakeholders where necessary, including:
- RAF Valley ATC
- RAF Valley Station Operations
- Airspace safety staff
- Emergency services or aviation safety partners where required for operational safety
- System administrators maintaining the booking and Skylark systems
- Relevant regulatory or investigative authorities where legally required
We do not use submitted information for marketing purposes.
6. How Long We Keep Information
Records are normally retained for up to 3 years for operational safety review, audit, incident investigation, and historical reference purposes unless longer retention is required for legal, regulatory, or aviation safety investigations.
7. Security of Information
Reasonable technical and organisational security measures are used to protect submitted information from unauthorised access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure.
8. Automated Processing
Authorisation decisions are reviewed by operational personnel and are not based solely on automated processing.
9. Your Responsibilities
You are responsible for providing accurate information and updating your request if flight details change.
Submitting a notification or authorisation request does not remove your responsibility to comply with:
- The Air Navigation Order
- CAP722
- The Drone Code
- Temporary airspace restrictions
- Any other applicable aviation legislation or operational restrictions

You may have rights under UK data protection law, including the right to request access to your personal data, correction of inaccurate data, restriction of processing, or objection to processing.
Some rights may be limited where information is required for aviation safety, legal obligations, operational audit, or public-interest functions.

Terms and Conditions of Use
By using this drone notification and FRZ authorisation tool, you agree that:
- The information you submit is accurate and complete to the best of your knowledge.
- You will update or amend your request if any material flight detail changes, including date, time, location, height, aircraft, operator details, or contact details.
- Submitting a notification outside the FRZ does not grant permission to operate unlawfully or contrary to the Drone Code, CAP722, the Air Navigation Order, or any applicable airspace restriction.
- Submitting an FRZ authorisation request does not itself grant permission to operate within the RAF Valley Flight Restriction Zone. You must not operate within the FRZ unless explicit authorisation has been granted through the appropriate approval process.
- You must comply with any conditions, amendments, limitations, or operational instructions issued through the authorisation process.
- Any authorisation issued through this system does not remove the operator’s responsibility to comply with the Air Navigation Order, CAP722, temporary airspace restrictions, or any other applicable aviation legislation or restriction.
- You remain responsible for the safe conduct of the flight, maintaining visual line of sight where required, avoiding other aircraft, and complying with all applicable aviation law.
- RAF Valley and/or authorised operational personnel may reject, amend, condition, suspend, or withdraw an authorisation where required for aviation safety, operational reasons, national security considerations, or inaccurate information.
- Submitted booking information may be used within Skylark airspace safety systems to assist with operational awareness and help distinguish notified or authorised drone activity from unidentified drone activity.
- The service is provided for operational safety coordination purposes and may occasionally be unavailable due to maintenance, technical issues, or operational requirements. You remain responsible for ensuring you have any required authorisation before flight.
- Do not submit information on behalf of another person unless you are authorised to do so.
- Abuse, misuse, false submissions, or attempts to interfere with the operation or security of the system may be reported to relevant authorities.
- Use of this system constitutes acceptance of these Terms and Conditions and the associated Privacy Notice.
